The Yunnan University education foundation was recently established as a recognized charitable organization, according to an announcement by the provincial civil affairs department.
Being a non-public foundation, it registered with the provincial civil affairs department and will be administered by the provincial education department.
YNU officials said that foundation will strictly follow the national charity law.
It will develop philanthropy, promote philanthropic culture and standardize charitable activities, among other things.
It will also protect the legitimate rights and interests of charitable organizations, donors, volunteers, beneficiaries and other charitable activity participants, so as to promote social progress and the education development in Yunnan University.
Officials said that moving forwards, the newly established foundation will focus on strengthening the development of YNU's institutions and teams, efficiently plan and implement donation projects -- as well as secure social resources to support the university's development.
